STATEMENT: Students Today, Artists Tomorrow


St. Lawrence College is pleased to present STATEMENT: Students Today, Artists Tomorrow, the third Annual Fine Arts Student Show at the Marianne van Silfhout Gallery on the Brockville campus. The student’s artworks will be on view from March 31 to April 28, 2011.

These emerging artists have taken their classically trained education and are pushing it into the 21st century, drawing upon their influence of sociological, political and environmental issues. This year’s show includes mediums such as photography, sculpture, drawings, mix media and a variety of printmaking techniques. Gallery guests will view the latest works produced by Melanie Alguire, Megan Cassavoy, Serena Deir, Kerryn Graham, Jeremie Mboma, Amber Mcbratney, Zoe Reoch, Angie Van Peppen and Connie Porteous. This is a one of a kind show that brings diverse and eclectic works together that are sure to spark engaging conversation that the patrons will not want to miss. Students making statements.

Opening Reception:
Friday, April 1, 2011 from 5-7pm.

Gallery Hours:
Tuesday to Friday 10 am to 8 pm
Monday and Saturday 10 am to 4 pm

About the Art Gallery
The Marianne van Silfhout Gallery is a state-of-the-art community art gallery located at the front atrium of the Brockville campus of St. Lawrence College and is a focus for the visual arts for Brockville and the larger Eastern Ontario area. Creation of the gallery was made possible by the generous bequest from the Estate of Marianne van Silfhout, a graduate of the Fine Art program at St. Lawrence College, and other contributors to the St. Lawrence Foundation.
