Expert advice on everything from community development, social service work, sales, marketing, photovaltaics, taxation, solar, wind, geothermal, and more is now just a click away, thanks to a new online, searchable directory.

"Expertise for commentary, insight and information is available right here at St. Lawrence College," said Chris Whitaker, President and CEO. "We are extremely proud of our staff and want to share their knowledge wherever and whenever possible."

"With just a couple of clicks, journalists can immediately determine who to speak with on a particular issue," Whitaker said. "Search away, and find the person you need - or a great story idea - within seconds."

Ontario’s public college system has more than 200 campuses and satellite locations across the province, serving every size of community. There are about 7,000 full-time and 12,000 part-time faculty members at the colleges. Ontario’s colleges offer courses in more than 600 program areas. The scope of subjects taught has expanded enormously since the college system was established more than 40 years ago.

As well, college programs evolve to meet the changing demands of the new economy. For example, 35 new programs related to the needs of the green industries have been started in recent years, including 14 programs that were introduced this fall. At St. Lawrence College our Energy Systems Engineering and Wind Turbine programs both have very strong enrollment. For Fall 2011, we are launching a Geothermal program which should also have strong demand.

"We knew there was a need for this site because there is so much going on at our college, and so many people to tell the many stories," Whitaker said. "The College Book of Experts will provide one-stop shopping."
