St. Lawrence College Announces "The Best Foot Forward Environmental Conference"

St. Lawrence College, in partnership with the Limestone District School Board and the Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board, are pleased to present the Best Foot Forward Environmental Conference on Thursday October 21, from 9 am to 2 pm at St Lawrence College.

Attendees include 200 local high school students, with a keynote address by Elly Adeland from the Polaris Institute in Ottawa. The theme of the day will be sharing environmental leadership. The students will have the opportunity to tour St. Lawrence College’s new wind turbine technician facility, as well as RE labs, and our unique off-grid training facility, Energy House.

"St Lawrence College looks forward to partnering with our local school boards to provide this innovative learning opportunity," said Charlie Mignault, Director of Business Development at SLC. "Environmental stewardship and sustainability are cornerstones of our strategic plan. Demonstrations in our new Wind Turbine and Trades Training Facility and solar powered classrooms will allow students to learn and understand what the future holds for them in post secondary education."

"This is another example of the commitment both local school boards are making towards environmental stewardship. We will continue to provide high value learning experiences for our learners," said Mike Faught organizer of the conference.
