St. Lawrence College launches "viewbook-on-demand" for prospective students


(Brockville, Cornwall, Kingston, September 16, 2009) You customize your ring tone, Facebook page and TV settings, now St. Lawrence College offers a new way to customize the information you want about important post-secondary choices. The "YouBook" is a personalized college guide chock-full of information on our programs, the student experience, and more, tailor-made by prospective students. St. Lawrence is the first Canadian college to provide this unique recruiting tool.

By logging onto, prospective students will fill out a quick checklist about their interests, and a customized book will be produced and mailed directly to their homes. The book is printed and mailed by St. Joseph Communications, our promotional partner.

The YouBook is a cross between a traditional college Viewbook and the much bigger publication, Career Guide, which includes information on all college programs. People can request information on their preferred programs of study, and will receive detailed information about that program. They can also receive specific information on campus life features and activities, residence facilities, athletics, counseling, and much more, as requested.

"We know our website is the number one tool prospective students use to get information about the college," said Gord MacDougall, vice president, Student and External Affairs for St. Lawrence College. "The students that we need to attract to St. Lawrence are savvy. They know what they want to do with their lives and the path they want to take with their education. The new tool, a first for the college system, will be added value for our customers, as they can create a one-of-a-kind guide and get what they really want."
