(May 13, 2009) Christine Aubry of St. Lawrence College was the gold medal winner in the Esthetics contest at the 20th annual Ontario Technological Skills Competition held on May 4 and 5 in Waterloo, ON. Christine, who hails from Cornwall, Ontario, will represent St. Lawrence College as a member of Team Ontario and travel to Charlottetown for the National Skills Competition, May 20-23, 2009.

The Olympic-style skills competition showcases students' technical and leadership skills. Students participate in practical challenges designed to test skills required in technology and trade occupations. Skills Canada - Ontario is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting the skilled trades and technologies as viable, first-choice career options for Ontario youth.

Christine was one of eight competitors in Esthetics from four colleges across Ontario. The competition included judging on numerous skills, including waxing, manicure and facial and make-up application.

"I’m so proud to be representing my program and school at the national level," Christine said. "Winning the gold just goes to show what a great program St. Lawrence College has and how well it prepares us for our careers."

The Esthetician program at St. Lawrence College is unique as it delivers its two-year curriculum in 40 consecutive weeks, getting students career ready faster than other college programs.
