College Revitalization- Knowledge Infrastructure Projects

St. Lawrence Colleges welcomes the announcement of funding for its Brockville & Cornwall campuses from the federal and provincial governments. This money will help fund projects that will greatly improve the learning environment for our students, such as modernizing laboratories and classrooms, as well as accommodating increasing enrolment.

CORNWALL CAMPUS REVITILIZATION

We received $10 million in Knowledge Infrastructure Project(KIP) funding for the Cornwall campus. We have completed 100% of the renovations with a grand re-opening celebration planned for October 2011.

Interior renovations to be commenced in January 2010, and include the following:

  • Consolidation of activities into Moulinette Hall
  • Revitalization of Moulinette Hall including new mechanical (HVAC) and electrical systems
  • Renovated  and expanded classrooms
  • New computer labs
  • New Chemistry and Physics labs
  • New Nursing Simulation Lab
  • New Student Services/Customer Service Area
  • New Paramedic lab
  • Improved Athletic facilities to support Paramedic, Police Foundations and other academic programming
  • Improved facilities for trades programs

Brockville Campus

Brockville

We received $1.3 million in Knowledge Infrastructure Project(KIP) funding for the Brockville campus, and have completed 100% of the work including:

  • Construction of a new nursing lab to support the degree nursing program
  • Relocation of the Student Association offices to accommodate a new faculty office complex for the performing arts that encourages idea sharing and creativity.
  • Decommissioning of the Print Shop and conversion to a new Distance Education distribution center to meet the emerging needs of our learners. This space was also used to create additional faculty offices.
  • Refinishing the exterior architectural finishes surrounding the interior student courtyard between the buildings.
  • Provision of improved assessment space for students in the learning commons.
  • Provision of additional counselling space for students with disabilities.
  • Refurbished change room facilities in the athletics center.
  • Construction of a Pre-service Firefighter training structure in the exterior building area.
  • Construction of a casual learning space (learning commons) adjacent to the dining Hall. View floor plan (pdf).
  • Construction of an improved microbiology laboratory.
  • Refurbishment  of classrooms and labs and offices to meet the learning needs of our students.
