Reframing the Journey; Reframing Resilience

February 5 – March 29, 2024

About the Exhibit

The project began in the winter of 2023, as a research study to understand undergraduate nursing student experiences of teaching and learning, and how these affected their mental wellbeing. The study used a photovoice methodology, in which, the research participants took photos of items or moments that symbolized a teaching or learning experience that affected their mental wellbeing (positively or negatively). The photos were then discussed in a focus group of the participant researchers to further identify the themes and meanings in the photos.

Subsequently, the artist collective The FISHEAS (a local group of artists and researchers with shared ideologies and aesthetics who create work together) were invited to create work in response to the photos and the research.

In addition to exploring the pressures of being a student, this collaborative exhibit, is an opportunity to engage in discussions about mental wellbeing, work-life balance, as well as understandings and attitudes about particular professions.

There are four opportunities for you to participate in this exhibit by sharing your thoughts, ideas, or experiences:

1) a questionnaire on a clipboard (aka patient chart)

2) a postcard to yourself

3) a post-it note with your words of affirmation

4) sharing a photo that is meaningful to you
