artist statement

I learned how to sew when I was 10 years old. Then came knitting, crochet, cross stitch and embroidery. I made my first quilt 30 years ago. I graduated from St. Lawrence College, Kingston in 2019 with a Certificate in Fibre Arts- Textile Design. Over the last 15 years I’ve learning how to hand dye fabric, intentionally create patterns and broaden my knowledge of painting and printmaking. All of this art-making has been cross training in skills I now bring to creating art quilts and mixed media pieces. My inspiration comes from the natural patterns, colours and contrasts I see around me. I enjoy experimenting and finding solutions to make the art happen!
