40 pieces of photographic art from 24 members of the Brockville Area Photo Club were selected by a panel of three judges to hang at the club’s annual juried exhibition.

The theme of this year’s exhibition was contrast. Contrast is a crucial element in photography. Contrast refers to the difference between two or more shades of colour or brightness, two or more objects or concepts, or the arrangement of opposite elements (light vs. dark, curved vs. straight, natural vs. man made). Contrast is not always where you expect to find it!

Visitors to the Gallery saw photographic art by the following members of the Brockville Area Photo Club: Kerey Bolton, Larry Bolton, Mary Freamo, Donald Galna, Jim Gatschene, Christine Gibson, Keith Hare, Ghislaine Klitbo, J.P. Lacasse, Bill Lalonde, Gisele Lalonde, Alex Loshack, Janice Medcalf, Pete Medcalf, Bill Milward, Audrey Moore, Ron Purser, Don Sine, Laurie Snelling, Simon Smith, Jane Topping, Sies Visser, and Wayne Warren.

Also on display in the Foyer Gallery was a variety of works by members of the St. Lawrence College Fine Arts Alumni.

Five' and Under showcased the artwork of more than 300 Brockville elementary school students.

Five' and Under was the result of a Community Outreach Program designed to help introduce the fine arts to children and foster a love and appreciation for all arts and also introduce the Marianne van Silfhout Gallery to families in our community. Through generous donations given to the St. Lawrence College Foundation and from the Friends of Marianne, the Gallery is now able to focus on bringing the fine arts into our local schools as well as inviting classes in to visit and learn on-site completely free of charge.
