Black History Month 2021 The Future is Now

February is Black History Month which provides all Canadians with an opportunity to become better informed about the contributions made by Black Canadians throughout history, as well as insight into their experiences.

The Government of Canada has shared biographies of notable Black individuals who have helped shape Canadian heritage and identity.

The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) a list of 23 Black Canadians you should know, who have made major contributions to Canada’s culture and legacy.

This Black History in Canada resource is designed for educators and contains information on not only Black history but present-day events and efforts to improve people’s understanding of the contribution of Black Canadians. The historical timeline is presented visually, and the document contains a foreword by author Lawrence Hill.
