Alumni Recognition Program

St. Lawrence provides a number of opportunities to recognize the success of our graduates.

Premier's Awards

The Premier's Awards is an annual provincial awards program created by the government to acknowledge the important economic and social contribution college graduates make to Ontario. The Premier's Awards are administered by the Council of Regents.

Any graduate of a college program may be nominated. The person mush have demonstrated outstanding career success and be making a contribution to their community or society. Colleges may nominate one graduate in each of the following categories:

1. Applied Arts: Creative Arts and Design

2. Applied Arts: Community Services

3. Business

4. Health Sciences

5. Technology

6. Recent Graduate

The Alumni Office of St. Lawrence welcomes suggestions for nominations at any time, however, the deadline for each particular year is May 01. Nominations should include a cover letter by the person making the nomination including the nominee's program and year of graduation, as well as a copy of the nominee's resume or CV, and copies of any relevant media clippings or awards. All suggestions will be reviewed by an internal selection committee and the College will forward one official nomination for each category to the Premier's Office.

Official college nominees will be invited to attend the annual Premier's Awards Dinner, and will receive a framed certificate signed by the Premier of Ontario.

Honorary Diplomas

To recognize the outstanding contributions made by individuals and organizations, St. Lawrence College grants Honorary Diplomas.

The achievements of Honorary Diploma recipients are of such excellence as to provide an example, inspiration, and leadership to all graduates of St. Lawrence.

Honorary Diplomas are open, but not restricted to, members of the alumni.

Nomination forms are available through the Alumni Office. Nominations are welcome at any time, but for each particular year, the deadline for submission is March 01.

Honorary Diploma recipients are presented with their diplomas, and given an opportunity to address the graduates, at our spring convocation ceremonies.

Alumni of Distinction Awards

From time to time the Alumni Office recognizes graduates who have achieved an exceptionally high level of career success, have received professional recognition in their field, or have made a significant contribution to St. Lawrence, or the community in general.

Alumni of Distinction Award nominations are welcome at any time. Recipients receive a framed certificate, and are highlighted in Voyageur magazine.

Alumni Profiles in Voyageur Magazine

Suggestions for Alumni Profiles in Voyageur magazine are always welcome. Graduates should be enjoying career success, and have an interesting story to tell.

Voyageur typically produces three profiles per issue, and strives to maintain a campus, program, and gender balance. Although appreciated, not all suggestions for Alumni Profiles can be accommodated.
