Brockville Alumni Branch
MISSION
Inviting any SLC graduate living in the Brockville region, the MISSION of the Brockville Branch is to encourage participation - as a proud alumnus - in causes and events that support either campus student life or the local community.
GOALS:
- To develop & maintain positive partnerships among alumni, students, the College, and the community.
- To provide alumni, their family, & friends with appealing social and networking opportunities.
- To identify fund raising activities to support our mission.
We meet about once a month from September – June. You don’t have to commit to everything we plan, just help us out when you can!
The Branch is a 100% volunteer organization and not funded by the College. We do however thank the SLC Foundation and the Alumni Relations office for their ongoing guidance.

Comedy Night & Silent Auction - March 26th, 2011
The Keary Team joins State Farm as our comedy sponsors for March 26, and we are thrilled to announce that comedians WINSTON SPEAR and JOEY ELIAS are scheduled to perform!
Montreal’s own Joey Elias began performing comedy in 1992 after losing a pool hall bet to a friend. His loss was the comedy world’s gain. Since his humble beginnings on amateur night stages, Joey has appeared in no less than 11 Just For Laughs Festivals and the 2004 and 2006 Just For Laughs Cross Canada Tour. In 2004 he also ventured to Afghanistan, for the first time, to entertain Canadian troops stationed overseas. From stage to screen, Joey has appeared in several roles including “The Wool Cap” with William H. Macy and “The Day After Tomorrow” with Dennis Quaid.
In regards to his comedy career, Joey made his 11 appearances at Montreal’s International Comedy Festival “Just For Laughs”. His three gala performances have been televised on the CBC, and can still be seen on The Comedy Network. Joey has appeared on his very own 1 hour Canadian National TV special “Comedy Now!” and was also the host of CBC’s “All Access Pass” from the 2004 & 2005 Just For Laughs Festival. Joey now travels worldwide headlining and making numerous TV appearances. From the Middle East, to the US, Joey traveled across Canada in 2004 and 2006 as part of the “Just For Laughs Cross Canada Comedy Tour” and has traveled to Afghanistan in 2004 and 2007, to entertain the Canadian troops stationed in Khandahar and Kabul.

Winston Spear is a unique comedian with a deep deadpan delivery who has been called the King of the Obscure. Although his slightly disturbed sensibility makes him a sure-fire hit, there is a certain charisma that endears Winston Spear to audiences when he performs. He is a regular cast member and staff writer on CTV and The Comedy Network's hit sketch show Comedy Inc., now in its fourth season, which also airs on Spike TV.
Winner of the Canadian Comedy Award for Best Stand-up Comic in 2003, Spear has been performing in comedy clubs and festivals throughout North America for more than a decade. In fact, comedy once took him to the United Arab Emirates to perform. He's appeared a number of times at the Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal, the Vancouver International Comedy Festival, and was at this years Halifax Comedy Festival. Winston refers to his ability to incorporate physical comedy into his act as "comedic modern dance." For the past six years, Spear has been the resident host of the ALT.COMedy Lounge, a hip alternative showcase for comedians in Toronto.
Please donate an item or two to our Silent Auction so we can raise at least another $1,000.00 for the always important Student Emergency Fund, helping students with sudden and unexpected financial needs.
Event Volunteers also required - includes FREE access to Comedy Night!

On March 27th close to 200 alumni, students, family and friends attended our 7th annual Comedy and Silent Auction night to support or number one cause, the campus Student Emergency Fund. Thanks to many generous bids on a ton of great items a new record total of $1,400.00 was raised!
Comedians Scott Faulconbridge (pictured) and David Pryde put on a highly entertaining show for the packed house and even performed a bonus improv routine and the end of the evening to put everyone in hysterics.
We are proud supporters of the Brockville Campus Student Emergency Fund, assisting current SLC students with unexpected financial needs that come up during their academic pursuits. Many cases (handled by Counseling Services) have helped keep a student in college and on track to becoming a St. Lawrence College alumnus.
Special thanks go to our sponsors State Farm Insurance, the Mortgage Professionals, and Comfort Inn for helping us bring this great entertainment to the Brockville community!
