Sponsoring a Student Bursary, Award or Scholarship

The St. Lawrence College Foundation has an ongoing commitment to enhancing our program of student bursaries, awards and scholarships. The costs associated with post-secondary education continuing to increase, the demand has never been greater for financial aid. Bursaries, awards and scholarships can make a real difference in the life of a student, and can assist them in achieving their academic and personal goals.

Student Awards Nights are held in each of our campus communities in the fall. In addition, graduating students receive awards at our convocation ceremonies. In each case, a representative from the sponsoring organization is invited to attend and take part in the presentation of the award.

Sponsors are involved in the naming of an award, their direction toward a particular campus or academic program, and are invited to work with our Awards Officer to develop selection criteria.

Awards typically fall under one of two categories:

Endowed Awards

Endowed awards are created when a specified minimum amount of capital is invested. The interest generated each year is drawn off and presented perpetually. The endowed principal remains untouched.

Annual Awards

Annual awards are established when a sponsor commits to donate a specified minimum amount of capital each year. The entire amount is presented each year. Sponsors supply a letter of intent to fulfill their pledge for a specified number of years.
